How does the Depop Fee Calculator work?

This tool is designed to calculate the Depop fee for buyers who sold their luxury items on Depop.

Depop is an online marketplace where anyone can buy, sell, and discover desirable, cheap secondhand items.

This tool is useful for sellers who have already made a handsome amount by selling products or for beginner sellers.

Every marketplace has its terms and conditions, and they take a small amount as commission, which is called fees.

In general, Depop takes 10% off every successfully sold item from sellers, including shipping fees.

Here’s how the Depop Fee Calculator works:

  • Input the Item Price: Enter the price at which you’re selling the item.
  • Input the Shipping Cost: Enter the shipping cost, if applicable. (Shipping charge refers to the total amount charged to the buyer, and shipping cost refers to the amount you paid for shipping.)
  • Depop Fee Calculation: The calculator will multiply the total amount (item price + shipping cost) by 10% to determine the Depop fee.
  • Payment Processing Fee Calculation: The calculator will then calculate the payment processing fee. This is typically 2.9% of the total transaction amount plus a fixed fee (e.g., $0.30).
  • Total Fees: The calculator will add the Depop fee and the payment processing fee to give you the total fees.
  • Net Profit: Finally, the calculator will subtract the total fees from the item price to give you the net profit.

A Big Change In Depop Selling Fee:

Depop is no longer charging fees to UK sellers.

The company announced that starting from March 20, 2024, UK-based sellers will no longer be subject to Depop’s usual 10% selling fee.

This decision was made because Depop is a UK-based company that was originally founded in the UK.

The reason is to encourage more people to list their items and earn more profit.

However, they implemented a nominal charge for purchasers in the UK, which became effective on April 15, 2024. (According to Depop).

Another Big Change In Depop Fee:

This change is only applicable to sellers that are located in the UK & US.

Actually, Depop said, there is no need to connect the PayPal account to sell or list items for UK and US sellers.

Just sign up for Depop payments in order to sell and list items.

However, sellers can accept payment from buyers via Apple Pay, Google Pay, debit cards, and credit cards.

However, sellers other than UK & US are responsible for paying the PayPal fee, which varies depending on the seller’s location.

Why Does Depop Charge so many fees?

Usually, every marketplace charges a small fee as a commission to run their company.

Some marketplaces like Etsy charge a listing fee from sellers, but Depop doesn’t charge any listing fee. So, there is no need to worry about listing items on Depop.

Depop only charges 10% of the sold item from sellers. So, I think this fee is affordable when your items are sold at a good price.

What is Depop’s payment processing fee?

Generally, this fee depends on the sellers. Depop provides two methods for payment processing only for sellers that do not reside in the UK & US.

One method is Paypal and the second is Depop payment. If you’re using Depop for payment it will charge a fee of 3.3% + $0.45.

If the seller is from a different country & uses PayPal, the payment processing fee is 3.49% + $0.49.

Can I sell on Depop without PayPal?

If you’re not from the UK or US, typically, only a buyer can purchase products without a PayPal account if the seller permits it.

However, sellers can’t create Depop store accounts without having PayPal accounts.
The reason is that Depop supports PayPal accounts and transfers money to the seller’s account through PayPal.
